Quick update, arrived home from work diaphragm arrived so got the tools out swopped it out took all of 30 mins if that well done wammers I can get it up again.

When the full eas rebuild kit arrives I will refurb the whole eas block and recon my old pump and keep that one one the boot as me spare.

As a side note how often during normal use should the pump run ?? Mine seems to be coming on an awaful lot but maybe I'm just noticing it more now iv had a pump failure

Ah, say welcome to Captain Paranoia!

All the time when you listen out but normally just topping up. If you have a Nanocom you can make a live trace and then import it into Excel. Can do it for you if you have trouble. On the live trace you would expect the pump to be running about 30% of the time on a 20 minute journey, although it depends if you have a lot of height changes. Some people put an tell-tale LED to tell them when it runs but you can hear it and frankly you'll just scare the willies out of yourself. I have considered chasing wires up the A-post and embedding a little Maplin project box in the roof when I redo the roof-lining with some tell-tale LEDs in to monitor E. Air Compressor, Air con fans, brake modulator pump, low water in expansion tank and maybe power to the lift-pump, that sort of thing. Bit undecided.

That will just ruin your new roof lining

it happens a lot when people refurb them but dont put the piston back onto the motor right.
When they tighten the grub screw its not on the flat of the motor arm. My first P38A had a reurb pump in that had the same problem :)
