Well i was 0.3 miles from home after coming back from wales stopped at a set of lights and my timing belt went on me, what is the very worst case Garage said it might just be a case of doing the timing belt ...

So i would like to know the worst case and how to sort the problem ..Thx

Guessing by the name that its a 200tdi, i guess absolute worst case would be another engine or major rebuild.:eek:

Normal worst case could be pushrods, rocker arms, timing belt, maybe others but i think thats the usual suspects, anything that can be damaged in piston-to-valve colisions.:(

Or you might just be lucky;)

Changing the cam belt has to be just about the most important job to do on an engine that has a cam belt !!When I hear people say my cam belt has gone my reaction is why the fook did you let it happen, its your fault, change the belt in line with the manufactors recomendation and you eliminate the problem !!

It was due to go in next week for timing belt unlucky, But i just hope the engine is not Fcuked only tried it twice and the AA Guy who came out with the flatbed ..

Trying the just the twice could be enough, but then again what else do you do when your engine stops for no reason just one of those thing I suppose.

My old Peugeot 309 SRI snapped a cam belt and normally I would agree with you wholeheartidy.

But when Peugeot actually specified that changing a cam belt was not necessary at all and the car had a full Peugeot service history, you do begin to wonder.

If it had been serviced by a good independent no doubt the cam belt would have been changed as part of the routine maintenance.

Thank you Peugeot that was £750 we could have spent elsewhere but because you and your franchise both decided that this was never an issue we hat to spend it on a cylinder head rebuild instead.

So, you see the manufacturer aint always right.
