Hi all, not been around for a while but i’m back in a P reg P38 diesel and i’m pretty pleased with it
However i appear to have a leaking injector pump
It’s quite hard to see exactly where it’s leaking from but have read it’s quite common and can be done in situ
Was wondering if you helpful chaps would be so kind to point me in the direction of a repair guide and where to get new seals/gaskets form
Any help greatly appreciated
Many thanks

It's often the top cover seal that leaks, easy job apart from the special bolt head. This is the kit I used as recommended by Mark Piercy:-

If you need to go down to the next level, it needs marking up very carefully, I think there is a write up in the tech archive.

Sacrificial socket & hammer will take the security bolt off and replace with new normal bolt., can’t remember socket size - something tight
Same, use one of those 1/4" sockets that roll around the bottom of your toolbox, somewhere around 8mm. I'm too tight to replace the bolt so just leave the socket on there and reuse the bolt ;)

Thanks for all the replies fellas, i’ll leave the special socket
I have searched the tech section for a guide on how to repair but can’t seem to find it (probably being a bit thick)
One other question i do have is that does the injector pump have to “timed” with the rest of the engine?

Best leave static timing alone unless you have the tools. Not required if you leave the pump in situ. Mark up the pump top on all sides as a tiny difference could result in no-go. If the pump has done 140k or over then the FIP is probably due a refurb anyway.
