Need to do a 2 hour drive in my 300tdi tomorrow, leaving the house at 8:00am.
This evening have unexpectedly had to replace the oil seal on the rear transfer box output shaft.
Looks like quite a lot of fluid has been lost (all over the chassis and when replacing the seal).
Tomorrow is Sunday so no shops will be open to buy the correct oil.
In the absence of said oil, would it be OK to use the "one shot swivel grease"?
My thinking behind this: In the Haynes manual, it lists the same fluids for the axles, transfer box and swivel housings.
The one shot grease I have doesn't give any specs, just says "replaces STC3435". It's gold in colour and has an oil consitency (unlike the grey grease used in the CV joints for example). Appreciate that's not much to go by which is why I'm asking.
