Help required folks!

Not an urgent problem but one that must be address before long.....
I have a squeek coming from the dashboard area and it sounds like a very loud bird chirping and it is driving me nuts. I have removed the stereo, most panels on the dash even drove with the clocks hanging out, you name it I have tried but I still have the bloody squeek lol.

Any one out there had the same problem? I would be most greatful if you have any ideas :D

Cheers

Get some dash cleaner (back to black ) a decent one anyway, and spray everything with it behind dash the lot , worth a try :) I say use that dash cleaner cause wd40 would stink ya motor out

I had a chirping noise that seemed to come from the dash area, but it actually ended up being a prop-shaft UJ! (the front prop, transfer box end). It was driving me bloody mental too! :)

Hi to all,

Well, I went out to the Landy and I think I may of cracked it...... I think the passenger seat was touching the sub-woofer that is attached to the bulkhead causing one of the screws to come loose so I think the vibration was making the screw rub on the metal....I went out for a 15 mile test drive and I think I may have killed the chirping bird!!! its either that or slamming the stereo back in its housing lol.... I will test drive her again tomorrow.

I know its not the UJ's as the are brand new along with a shed load of other stuff...unless of course the new UJ's cause a chirping noise ...

Cheers

The 'dashboard' chirp on mine turned out after many months of searching to be the bonnet hinge outside - regular drip of 3in1 and its gone! I'm sure as a Defender there are innumerable options on the cause of a chirp..... A

I've had a similar problem - appeared about 35-45mph, the majority of my typical urban mileage - and disappeared at about 50mph,

Apparently emanating from behind the passenger-side dash somewhere near the screen demist vent. Maybe.

Although in the last week it's stopped happening. Possibly the more humid autumn weather has lubricated the dashboard plastic a bit.

Thanks for the tips. Will get the 3-in-1 out and treat the bonnet hinges just in case.
