oilyair filter

hi,can anybody offer any info on why i have got engine oil all over my air filter.engine starts and appears to run fine but i noticed i had an oil leak and found that it was leaking out of the air filter casing and that the filter was covered in it.i thought air was sucked in not oil blown out through here.not mechanically minded so any info in would be helpfull.don't want to rush off to a garage straight away and find out it was something and nothing but end up paying through the nose to find this out.p.s. should of mentioned earlier,it is a 2.5 n/a diesel engine having covered 119,000mls.

I reckon your rocker cover breather is still attached to the air intake hose you can disconnect it and bung the hole up in the air intake, just drop the breather down on to the chassis somewhere. Have a look in the filler cap to see what state the gauze filter stuff is in. Replacing the cap may sort it but it could be crankcase pressure blowing the oil out. Try a search on here this is a regular question.
