Could anyone advise if this sensor from the hose at front of engine should be covered in oil? If not, how would I go about cleaning it.(is this the temp sensor)
I was checking it as car gets a bit juddery once up to temp but drives lovely from cold.
Thanks everyone…

Turbo boost temperature sensor clean it with a quick spray of carb cleaner, and re-fit make sure the plug and it's wiring are all ok as they can break .

Thanks,I’ll do that. Is there any issues with it being covered in oil? What would it affect?
Cheers…

A bit of oil won't make any difference to the sensor, or the way the engine runs. The engine will run quite happily without that sensor being connected, so it's not really an issue.

The oil comes from the breather system, which is plumbed into the intake pipe.
When was the crankcase filter last changed? A dirty crankcase filter can cause excessive oil to be passed to the intake system.

Cheers. The crankcase mod was done about 4 months ago. It also has egr blank.
Any idea why it would drive mint when cold and start to judder once it gets near to temp?

By mod, you mean putting the BMW fit n forget cyclonic separator in?

Loads of reasons, other than the boosted air temperature sensor.
Rail sensor and its associated wiring is the first place I'd check.
The MAF is also worth checking for function, using suitable diagnostic equipment.
The MAP also needs checking, again with diagnostic equipment.
Check both low pressure and high pressure fuel rails, using diagnostic equipment.
Stick some injector cleaner through the system, to see if there's any improvement.
