Didn't know how to entitle this... on any car forum oil seems an appropriate name for an introduction!

I don't own a landy and I am not going to even presuppose that I ever will. I think Land Rovers are truly great vehicles in every sense (purpose, durability, engineering, having something about them that is greater than the sum of their parts). I would sincerely like to own an LR (and make it an LPG converted V8), but being an environmentally conscious family man living in surburbia and never likely to traverse any mud, rocks, deep fords or generally anywhere that isn't asphalt on my way to work, I could never justify to myself owning one (or taking time to convince the wife who use to be a Vee-dub widdow until the last time we were getting cash strapped and saw our lives taking a new direction).

I do however have two very close friends (one of whom I have known for 17 years of my 24 year existence, the other for about 12) who, between them have (in order of acquisition):

76 Series III 88" (In full working order and daily use)
61 Series II 88" (Awaiting resto)
78 Series III 107" (Sporting a 2.5 DI Transit engine conversion, engine has let go of a conrod, please see my other post!)
90 200Series Disco 2.5 Tdi (In full working order and daily use)
86 Range Rover 2.4 VM Turbo Diesel (In need of welding and body work)
96 300 Series Disco 2.5 Tdi (In full working order and daily use)
91 Defender 110 2.5 Tdi (In full working order and daily use)

It is quite cool I do get to have a go every now and then, and we have done quite a few days off roading locally, plus been to a couple of shows an of course the world record attempt for the longest landrover procession.

So all in all, there probably is some faint hope of me owning an LR one day, (believe me, I do very much want one...but then I want lots of things)

And if u have read to the bottom of this, I am surprised. You must be geekier than I...
