HI all, while doing the oil change and checking for the fuel leak yesterday I noticed oil coming from somewhere I didnt expect it. I took all the covers off at the top and out of one of the holes where the injector cover goes oil was coming out - not loads, but the odd splash when the engine was ticking over - this, I believe, is the hole above where the chain is. Is this normal or something to worry about?

Also, I did the BMW breather mod - the old breather filter was like a lump of tar! oh, and this oil continued to splash even after doing the mod. I am hoping this is normal!

Have a good one everyone

cam cover as been pieced by the bolt where the chain is, seen this lots of time on the M47 R40 someone as tightened the bolt down to much, try using a smaller bolt once it is in situ it should not spit out any oil, not really anything to worry about.

cool, it was only really when the bolt was out that it was coming out - once the bolt was in there were only the slightest traces coming out - pleased its nothing to worry about.

Early td4's had a different engine cover and a stud was fitted where the leaky bolt is now. I put a bit of ptfe tape on the bolt threads.

as far as I know the later td4 has to have the bolt in or it will leak
Yep. The cover bolt blocks the hole in the cam cover.
No cam cover, so bolt hole is open.

Cover fitted, so bolt blocks the hole.
