Oil seal retaining plate?

Hi people just been to get a few bits to rebuild the front axle and when I asked for the swivel housing retaining plate he handed me two but when I told him I need 4 he said that his diagram only shows two? It has two per side on the swivel housing now and on a diagram I downloaded? Any advice,do I need the 4 the new ones are a lot thicker than the 4 I've taken off

you only need 1 per side
