Oil problems-oil light refuses to go off

Today My Landrover discovery 1996 tdi 300i just had its dashboard oil light suddenly failing to go off after starting. There is a funny sound at the top of the engine which has developed and the engine oil light flikers on and off. when you try to rev the accelerator pedal the oil light stays permanently on. please advise Engine oil level is however ok.

Oil pump fecked would be my guess or just unplug the oil sensor.......the light will go out

Always thought that patch of yellow snow under my disco was oil, but my light doesn't stay on

I'd suggest checking the oil level but I get the horrible feeling you'd ask how. You're either a troll or you're barely intelligent enough to breath. Sell the landy and use the bus.

First thing I do with a problem like this is replace the oil pressure sensor to rule that out, had oil pressure problems on two cars that both ended up being sensors.
But if there is a top end noise then it probably wont be just the sensor.
