My 06 discovery 3 oil light came on this morning after driving over a speed hump.
The engine was up to temperature, I had about 20 minutes motorway drive done and was 2 minutes from work. It went off straight away but came back on as I parked up at work.
I checked it at break time and all was normal.
I drove home not going over 2000 revs , no problem. When I started it again a few minutes later the light came on again but it went off as soon as I pressed the throttle.
The engine is cold now and everything is normal again .
Oil level is good, oil, filter, timing belt, and upgraded oil pump changed 4000 miles ago.
I'm hoping it's the sensor that's faulty?
Any advice or help appreciated, thanks for reading

Who changed the oil pump? You can check the oil pressure sender wiring and see if its loose or damaged etc.

If nothing is obviously wrong with the sender you need to fit a known good oil pressure gauge and see what it tells you. My advice would be to not run the engine until you can verify the oil pressure.

Yeah I know that you're right just needed someone to confirm it.
What should oil pressure be at idle anyway? Cool and up to temp.
Thanks for the reply.

Thanks for the reply.

Minimum oil pressure should be 0.7 Bar at idle, and 1.9 Bar at 2500 RPM, both with the engine at normal running temperature.
Bear in mind these are absolute minimum figures, and a good engine should see twice those figures.

Plus 1 ^^^^^, also was the oil filter a genuine one plse and heard reports of some makes not performing as they should

also found this video very interesting

Thanks for all the replies, genuine oil filter it's a part I never skimp on with any vehicle.
I follow LR time on YouTube Christian is very good, he has all the tools though.
Went to 9 or 10 motor factors today to get an oil pressure gauge kit but failed, two weeks wait was best they could offer, so I've ordered one online myself but might not be any quicker. They blamed covid for the delay?
