I have fitted oil pressure & temperature gauges to my 300Tdi Defender, they are Land Rover gauges, and on the rear of each of them are two spade fittings, one for a male spade and the other a female.
One of the terminals I'm sure will go to the appropriate sender but where does the other go as both gauges are electrical.
These obviously need to be wired but to what?

Can anyone help please as electrics aren't my strong point.

I've sussed the lights for the gauges (live and earth) they work, it's the actual wiring to make the things work that I need.
Thanks for the quick reply though....

Well.... The senders work by varying the ground resistance to alter the gauge reading so one will go to the sender and one will need a positive feed I reacon.
Don't try this though until a grown up sees this and advises! I'm not an expert!
You already have a temp gauge though?

One wire is a positive feed (use one of the green wires in the vicinity of the gauges) and the other goes to the sender. The sender completes the circuit by varying its resistance to earth.

The one that has much less chance of touching anything metal will be the positive.
Are there no markings?

if you get it the wrong way round it wont work, secure one to earth and touch a live on the other, if needle doesnt start to rise its wired wrong way round

Well I can confirm that trying what 'jamesmartin' said doesn't work...it's a good job I had a fused link in the live side....

So back to my original question ...the two terminals on the rear of the gauges which one is routed to the sender and is the other one, from what I suspect from my research a switched or ignition live connection.

In anticipation TTFN.....

At the danger of stating the bleedin' obvious, the connectors on the end of the wires from the senders should guide you as to which terminal to use.

Errr no....... the oil pressure switch on the block has a female spade and is for the instrument panel warning light.
I have fitted two new gauges which require new wiring and for the oil temp gauge a new sender to which end I have a 'T' adaptor to accommodate both senders.

So back to my original question........which terminal on the rear of the gauges takes which wire and where from????????????

For some reason the pic of the rear of the gauges won't load for me to send it
