Today was a nice and sunny day so thought it would be a good idea to tackle the oil leak.

Oil is running don the oil filter when engine is running. I have read a few threads about the oil pressure relief valve, but to be sure I changed the oil and filter first to eliminate a leaking filter.

Obviously this didn't fix it :(

After having a look I figured I had 2 options to get better access to the valve: 1 remove fan. 2 remove steering box.
I chose option 2 as a quick look at the fan bolts made me realise they would not come off easily.

After disconnecting the steering box I also had to take the washer tank out in order to be able to drop the steering box.

Access achieved :)
The only issue is that where the pressure valve is, someone put some grey gunk/compound leak stop stuff on, completely covering the valve.

I have cleaned the entire area around the valve with a pressure washer so all ready to continue tomorrow.

Hopefully that gunk will come off easy.
I have the Viton O-rings ready :)

Is there anything I should look out for when refitting the steering box?

Yeah don't trap your fingers. :D:D

Oil leak all fixed :)

I was convinced I fitted the steering box in the exact same position as I removed it - only now, when the car goes in a straight line, the steering wheel sits at 10 past 8 :hysterically_laughi

Obviously not then. :D:D

Might be easier to take the steering wheel off and put it straight than to disconnect the box again.....

Don't work that way i am afraid see RAVE for steering shaft and box alignment.

Hmm it doesn't say much about the alignment apart from keeping the steering wheel straight when fitting the joint to the box.........

And where does the steering box have to be when you fit the joint? Do a bit more reading. :D:D
