Having my evening in with the Landy in the garage, i had a good look around the engine bay and underneath spotting a few areas of oil leaks which i'd like to rectify as part of the ongoing project of perking the engine up abit.
First area i spotted was the timing cover at the bottom, this had fresh oil gathered and most mornings, there is one or two spots where she sits underneath this area.
The picture isn't great as i had my phone in one hand and a torch in the other
I've read this could be a camshaft seal problem amongst others, and removing the timing cover is the next step for a full investigation.
Next point was oil in the air filter, also oil in the oil breather pipe ( from the oil filler cap ) and oil from the turbo area to the the air filter. I've read this could be seals within the turbo causing oil to enter the air filter pipes, is this a likely cause?
The engine oil levels appear to be fine, about 4mm off the 'H' mark and the oil is nice n black with no watery content, over a period of a week with over 500 miles clocked there hasn't been much oil loss ( none that required a top up at least ).
Another area of concern is the power steering module, i gave it a clean a week ago of any excess oil, but looking tonight it's back to it's current state of oil everywhere around this area. Unfortunately it's hard to pinpoint the area causing it, so if anyone has an idea of common seals/gaskets going within the Power Steering , i'd appreciate it.
Finally starting her is fine, she smokes like a bitch and idles abit rough ( seperate thread regarding injectors ), tomorrow i will give a short video of her starting to show the result.
I've searched here and googled these particular finds and the wealth of info is stretched out abit as to the causes & remedies, but sticking it in one thread makes it abit easier to keep track of faults/results etc.
Cheers
