the oil light on me 90 which has just had a defender 200 tdi swap doesnt seem to work atall and i cant remember if it worked when the td enjin was in,what should i check 1st or what should i be trying is it possible its the bulb or is that highly unlikely?

no/1 check thee fuse box for blown fuse taking in to account that 1 or more items work of the same fuse, no/2 locate the oil switch and test the wires for power with the ignition switched on, if power ok remove oil switch and test,if it as 2 connecters test for a circuit between the 2 contacts most oil switches work off presure from the oil when engine running so there should be a small ball bearing at the end of the switchso when under presure from the oil it should make contact inside the switch so you need to check with tester, to cap it all remove switch, test across the 2 terminals you should not have a reading. then do the same test but this time press the small bearing at the bottom of the switch you should now have a reading if the switch is working.if all ok the problem is the bulb and that can be tested the same way as the switch,
