oil light

hi all
hope you are all well, i have a disco 1 200 need some help when she get hot oil light flashes at tickover it's oil change is in about 1000 mile any thing i need to look at at same time it's not done this before

You seem a little fixed in your mind about your next oil change, why not do it now and see if it does anything to help.

The oil light comes on when the oil pressure drops below a predetermined point. This can be caused particularly at low engine speeds by the:-

oil becoming too thin due to heat,
oil level too low,
breakdown of the oil viscosity due to age,
incorrect grade of oil put in at the last oil change,
mixing or contamination by a thinner oil (diesel),
engine wear,
faulty oil pressure switch or
a combination of some or all of the above.

Check in the old oil as it's drained for bits of metal debris, smell it for traces of diesel oil.

Don't forget to change the filter(s) while you're at it.

No they don't, if the spring doesn't loose its strength then they leak only two things to go wrong.

But it's only a bit of tin with a diaphragm inside operating a switch contact against a spring that's why they are only a fiver.

Just replace it, it could be the original so how many times do u think its operated in its life.
