oil light coming on here and there

well driving back from a mates who reckon this ticking/tapping noise is 1 of the injectors...and not what i was thinking rod knock..it has got slightly quiter the more miles i have done.

so was happy got back and was parking up and noticed for the first time the oil light was on. it clears when you rev it and then it comes back at idle. also lol it comes on with the window wipers going and or flickers with lights on. possible some other cobinations.

so could this be related to my tapping. is it possible a blocked breather pipe etc......................................

ok dont get upset yet but it could be a cause of knoking

things to check in the engine.

oil level between max and min (check on level ground)
try oil and filter change ( top up to max before you start the engine leave to run on tick over for 1 min, check level if not moved remove filter and see if oil is going in.)
check conection on the oil pressure switch
try replaceing the pressure switch. see if its faulty

also check other oil levles gear box (is it atf oil not gear oil)

what gear box do you have? manual or auto?

try checking the color of the oil if red and dont smell like burnt toast its ok, if not change it!

if its an auto it could be the torque converter going home especialy if the oil is bad/low or filter not been changed! I dont think this will be the cause of the oil light on but can be the cause of the knocking, basicly the clutch packs inside brake down and make a knoking noise.

so possible clutch packs. mmmm not good. don t even know what they are...so if thats the case what excactly is happening i dont understand

before you start thinking about ripping yer landy apart to rebuild the GB and /or clutch - spend 50p on sone new injector sealing washers

and check yer oil

Did you hold on to the injector pipes to see if one of them was pulsing in time to the ticking?

if your oil lights comin on randomly then goin out when you rev it il bet its oil pressure switch. had exactly the same thing on mine, switch was about £7 from main stealer an took 10 mins to swap. its just above the oil filter, screwed into the side of the housing. if ya get stuck swapping it let me know, your only local so i can pop over

will try this as £7 i can do

would be nice if simple fix.

been reading up a bit.

came across faulty oil pressure pump, thought maybe that could relate to the oil light and the noisy tap due to low pressure.

how much are oil pressure pumps and hard to fit?

will be getting the switch tonight!

I thought the switch on mine was faulty but when I came to fit the new one I found the wire was loose...could have saved myself £7 if I had checked first. I think I've still got the new switch somewhere if anyone needs one.

i used some wynn's hadraulic valve lifter treatment a few days before this light appeared???

Oil light is probably your switch or a connection as described above.
Tapping noise could possibly be................. oh tappets need adjusting?
