oil level

can anyone tell me how much engine oil it will take to get the dipstick on my 200 tdi from min to max ? im asking cos i live on a steep hill i dont check my oil very often but when i checked the other day in work on a flat car park it was on min so im gonna add the right amount outside my house . thanks

at a guess on level ground then min to max on a dipstick for a TDi would be about a litre

Why didn't you top it up when it was on the flat?

i dont carry any oil with me so i couldnt top it up at the time and im off work for a few days and living in the welsh valleys there arnt many flat places around here lol
