oil level

since servicing my disco ive kept an eye on oil level each day, not once have i got a full/fixed reading on the max, it sometimes looks like its nearly at the minimum. ive put in about 6.5/.7 litres

heres an example how it shows, was 40 mins after using it, i do check it before runing, reading doesnt change much

Best time to check the oil is first thing in the morning after the vehicle has stood overnight and allowed the oil to drain back into the sump.

checked before start up today, the same as above.. i probaly look daft making this thread but i was told there is a common problem with these not displaying correct amount

If the reading doesn't change much, what's the problem? It just needs more oil.

theres said to be a problem were oil level doesnt show whats really there, i dont want to over fill it.. 6.5/.7 should be enough? it doesnt seem to show that.. id rather try find out if it has said problem, before i put more in

What does the owners manual say it holds including the filter?

just fill the damn thing to the fill line and a smudge over won't hurt a darn thing

mine read max then I did an oil change and got 6 litres out including the filter then replaced it with 7 litres and got the same reading on the dipstick. I just make sure that it stays on the max as there is no other way of checking the level
