Oil Leak, The usual suspects?

Hi all, I have not had a proper chance to investigate but I am getting a reasonable oil leak from my 1.8 Freelander, It only seams to drop anything when it has been parked up after a run, not a constant drip (as far as I can tell)

Before check everything, I was asking if there are any usual suspects?

It looks to be coming from the back of the engine near the timing belt casing and around the height of the cam pulleys or posable just below.

I know that is very little to go on, but any educated guesses welcome

suspects in that area include: the two cam seals behind the upper cam pulleys, or the cam cover itself. Mine currently has an oil weep from the exhaust cam seal

Bit of a fiddly job to replace - you will have to remove the outer cam belt covers, cam belt, pulley/s and the back cover too. Long flexible arms are a help - esp for the lower 8mm stud by the coolant pump!

Thank you htr,

I took the outer cam off quickly on my lunch hour,

Took these photos, there's is defiantly some oil in there but not horrendous amounts, think the tenchner looked the most oily (photo 2)

Cam cover and in my case with my old one,

THE SUMP GASKET!!!

If there's more oil on the lower half, then it would suggest the crank oil seal is leaking.

Thank you, I will change the cam cover gasket just to see if its that (and looks very easy)

If leak persist I will replace the cam and crank oil seal.
