Whilst the p38 was in having the starter changed, i asked the guy to check to see where my oil leak was coming from, he's advised me it's coming from between the engine and gearbox .
Can anyone tell me if this is a difficult job DIY or should it go into a garage?
cheers

It depends what frame of mind you are in and how strong you are, wrestling with a p38 gearbox on the drive way isn’t for the faint hearted. Its a 2 man lift. It could be one of those jobs you kinda wish you hadn’t started.
[FONT=&quot]I would say garage every time.

Unless you have a pit or hoist, removing the gearbox aint for the feinthearted as it's no lightweight especially with the transfer box attached. Could be something as simple as a seal gone but if it is inside, my advice is don't even go there as autoboxes are a pig to work on and you won't know how it runs unless you have a test rig, until it's refitted. The boxes on P38's tend to be pretty bullet proof if they are looked after.
