Hi,
I've got a 1968 series 2a Diesel and have recently changed the water pump, noticed oil leaking since from what looks like a bolt that holds the water pump the the timing plate. Is this normal ? Tried stopping it with some blue gasket sealant by taking bolt out and back in with sealant but leaking again !!!!
Any suggestions ?
It's the long bolt just above and left of pulley.

Cheers

Clean out the hole and threads best you can and apply a few wraps of ptfe tape to the threads of the bolt before refitting. I don't think oil should be coming from there so you might have a problem.

Sounds like bad pump...you wont fix a leaking pump with tape/sealant.

Cheers,
Think I'll try that. There's no oil water mix and there was silicone on the bolt when I first removed it. Just wondered if the bolt went into an oil gallery etc or oil from the timing plate area.

Cheers for suggestion

I just had this on my 200 tdi conversion i noticed the end of the bolt had a bit of oil on it, its not weeping past the bolt though so never really worried over it
