Hi all, I have a very annoying oil leak that appears when I park up after a run.

It drips from the antiroll bar bit at the back of the engine and appears to be coming from a bit on the block that has a pipe going to the brake assistance thing on the bulkhead, sorry not quite sure what it's all called lol!

Has anyone had a leak from this pump thing on the cylinder block? and if so is it an easy fix?

Thanks

matt

knowing what engine you have, or maybe a picture of the offending item might help as we aren't physic here

Oops sorry chaps, It's a 300Tdi, The part that the leak appears to be coming from is the gasket between the vacum pump and the block.

Think i'l take it off and put some instant gasket behind it.

Might be the pump itself leaking. Had to change mine last year as she was losing a lot of oil, symptoms as you describe.

ok yes vacume pump common fault.
you cant buy a repair kit like the 200tdi you need to replace it.

to test it in day light fire the engine up and watch the end furthest from the block and see if it moves very slightley, the rivits wear and alow oil to leak from between the end cap and the main block, to prove it when off and cold wipe finger under it at that seem and you will see.

i have seen a link before about drilling out the rivits and bolting it up, my question if you want to try that is this assists your brakes do you want to risk buggering it up and haveing an accident??

other place it leaks is the gasket between the pump and block but with a torch you will see oil weeping out and down the side of the block under it.

hope this helps
cheers
baz
