Evening all.Following the success of your last replies to my post I have found another fault (at least I think it is).
The engine is a 1.8 petrol K series in 2003 freelander (I know I know) but the good lady bought it before I could research it and now I am having to sort it out.
My question is this....looking at the engine from the front of the car,on the right hand side of the block I believe I can see the end of the cam shaft spinning and there is an oil leak. There are two holes ,one on either side that have been tapped as if there should be a cover plate bolted over the opening.Should there be a cover or is the seal leaking.
Hope this makes sense.
Thanks for any help.

Seal is leaking, sometime a shield is fitted to support cabland wiring clips, but seal is what keeps piling, if you replace with pink one fit it dry!!

Not easy, make sure you have a second in case you screw it up but it should be doable with a socket or similar to push it on. I never understood the idea if fitting seals dry, I always oil them before fitting.
NB make sure you get the right seals. Some makes are sided and some aren't.
