Finally got around to looking at my parking brake on my 96 300TDI. Tried adjusting the adjuster on the rear of the drum brake but made no difference.
Today Inspected the damage. Removed the drum and the drum has a fair amount of oil in it. Also the shoes are saturated with oil.
On closer Inspection, it seems the motion of the propshaft has been spraying a small amount of oil to the bottom of the Landy. I've taken a real good look, there are a few drops of oil coming from the rear plate of the transfer box. (thing it has 6 or 8 bolts on a 40 degree angle). the bottom two bolts have a drip of oil having off them.
Not quite sure but it seems inside the drum, between the shoes it looks to me as if an oil seal is missing. The bolt that came be seen between the brake shoes was finger tight. I've tightened this up and taken any slack out.
I've included a few pictures that show the leak.. If that not it anyone got any idea where I should be looking next.
cheers
