2001 DHSE - (later type)As the post says my oil filter is leaking from the gasket, have replaced the gasket twice with a new one, tightened as per manual/ over-tightened but it still leaks !!!!!!!!! Is there a valve in the canister that could be blocked ? assumed if the engine is pressurising it would blow oil out round the dipstick first. HELP!

on the petrol engine there is an oil pressure sensor tucked up beyond the oil filter and the sealing washer gives out and leaks. i know yours is a deisel but it may be worth checking that the same isn't true of the deisel engine!!

i replace my oil filter twice brfore i realised it was the sensor, it also ran down the engine and down the filter giving the impression it was a leaky filter!!!

just a thought as i have seen this before. have you checked that the old seal was removed before the new filter was fitted. ie you could have 2 seals fitted. when you tighten the filter it spreads the second seal out, cos there is no retaining grove for it to sit in.

What do you mean by 'overtightened'? The filter cover should only be hand tightened, anymore and you could damage it leading to a leak.

Thanks Tufty, Not this time, I did once get it back from the 'Stealers' with 2 seals though.

Ianmjdun, When i said 'overtighten' I mean't slightly more then hand tight.

Totally foxed!!!!!! Still Bl**dy leaking.
