Hi Again,

Whilst in the front of the old girl, I've noticed a fairly significant amount of gloop seeping from various bits of the undercarriage: Theres a biggish drip from the RHS of the Transmission Oil cooler and also a nasty amount of the black stuff escaping from the pipes going to the engine oil cooler.

I wonder what the 'usual' point of failure is whether its likely to be the 'hose' or just the 'o'-rings.

Being prudent, I imagine it's likely worth replacing the hoses if they're being removed to change the 'o'-rings.

Ive also read a lot about the dangers of stripping the threads from the coolers themselves (which, annoyingly, seem to be in ok shape) so I wondered whether any of you fine folks might have any advice on how / if that can might best be avoided / mitigated ?

Also, I've been looking through the engine overhaul manual on RAVE and while I can see what the parts are, I wondered whether any of you might know the part numbers I might be looking at for the send and return hoses for the two coolers ?

Really, any advice would be most helpful !

Thanks again

Bob

I think about the only thing you can do to avoid stripping the threads is to soak the joints in some type of penetrating oil. Everyone has their favorite. Then you repeatedly tighten/loosen with more PE until it frees up. Can't help with part numbers. Good luck.

Or some heat, won't matter if your changing the o rings .

Hi,

Just in case anyone stumbles across this, Ive managed to decode the various bits I seem to need:

Oil Cooler ESR3205
Pipe Filter to cooler ESR4415
Pipe Cooler to Filter ESR2697

Transmission Oil Cooler ESR2276
Pipe ESR2902
Pipe ESR2904
Clamp ESR1584
Oil Cooler 'O'-Rings ESR1594
add an M6x20mm Bolt and washer for the clamp

-and remember to order 'o'rings for BOTH ends of the pipes I may have forgotten this little detail !
