all fuses i have found check out visually and with a multimeter, numbers match in the becm and edc ecu, the only other fault is dash says abs fault.

No still wont start the battery was down from getting home when the fault came up, i am going to try again with a full battery and see what happens.

Well i have had a play, i dug out my spare engine ecu fitted a good battery and wrote the ems code from the ecu to the becm and hay presto it fired up and all is well in the world, well of my p38 any way,

Possibly, i might take the ecu apart and have a look, but cant quite work out how it fried unless it was the smaller wire of the back of the alt that i think does the rev counter and battery light, some one might know more but cant work out how it flagged up abs fault as soon as ignition was turned on.

I might pick up another one to replace it as now i know how to change the ems code easy enough, ecu`s are cheap on fleebay
its just a shame you have to change to code in the becm or i would simply rewrite the ecu then carry it in the car for a quick plug and play.

You can copy the chip using one of them eprom readers. Just need a blank chip.

Think i will stick with spare ecu, the readers and chips sounds out of my pay grade

I think he got unlucky. I am sure I have forgotten in the past and done something similar around the alternator or starter. Quick a shock when the sparks jump as the spanner grounds out on something.

Yes i was lucky, if i did not have diag and a spare ecu it would have been an expensive cock up
