well looked under the car this morning and there was a fresh pool of coolant on the floor

i changed the rad the other weekend and it seemed to fix the problem as no coolant loss. although i didnt run it on lgp until a couple of days ago.

this morning the coolant loss seems to be coming from the manifold/exhaust cat joint. i can only assume that the leak is there.

question - i know i need to get the lpg serviced. could that be causing my pressurisation in the top big rad pipe and thus forcing the coolant out in places?

im going to get the lpg system serviced next week so ill report back then.

frosty,,

get the head gaskets checked before you spend your dosh getting lpg serviced, when i did my hgs i had a devil of a job to get the lpg system working properly again,,

the other common leaking place if you got lpg is from the joints where they cut into the water pipes (feed and return for heater matrix).

if it is your hgs do it yourself, its not to difficult. just make sure you get the heads skimmed, island 4x4 has the gaskets, they not far from you.
good luck mate

cheers Rob

Im going to get the LPG serviced as i havent done it since owning the car and im not sure when the previous owners did it last. Im going to give it to my mech to diagnose the HG. And ill do the damn thing myself .

Is it an easy job to skim the heads or do i have to send them away ?

cheers

Easy if you have a mill and a fly cutter. You may have an issue with the LPG vaporiser leaking gas into the cooling system, have you had a sniff of the coolant? It will stink if it has gas in it. Just a thought.

Give your pipes that feen the lpg a good looking over. Had a hell of a time with mine. The LPG was only 5 years old but when inspected the coolant pipes to them were rock hard and rubbish plus the vapourisers were leaking. The vapourisers can split the diaphram and pump gas into the coolant. I finished up a small pipe from each heater hose to a Bigas Double vapouriser which is the muts. Bad news maybe heads off and look for cracked/slipped liners thats pressuring the sytstem. Look under ther mats under the drivers side and feel for coolant that may be leaking out of the o rings as well

no coolant on the mats as i changed the o rings when i first got the car. the previous owners had a partial engine rebuild done which included the heads so im hoping that it is just the lpg system.
its going in for an lpg service next week when i get paid. any recommendations for a good lpg servicer in kent around maidstone?
