Ok Chaps... I've gone and done it.

I've brought a 1997 Defender 300TDi engine , with gearbox ( R380), transfer box, and full Zorst System.

I could really do with your help, and wisdom.

What else am I going to need to swap from my 2.5N/A?

What pitfalls, and nasty surprises are there?

Comes with 88 tho miles, radiator, and cowling, water pipes, starter motor, alternator, heater relays, injection pump, engine mounts and all the wires.

Do the clutch slaves need changing?

What nuts and bolts should I order?

Also, a condition for changing the engine ( from the missus) is that I put power steering in

What do I need for that?

Is there any other components that should be upgraded to cope with the extra grunt?

I would really appreciate your help

Thanks

Marc:)

How many beer tokens did that cost ? - one just went on ebay for 1200 ish - there's a list of link sin one of my recents posts that should help with wot ur trying to do.

Sean... it cost me enough beer tokens that I won't having a drink for a long time:eek:.

But with me not having the time to take my time fitting the engine, and collecting and sourcing all the ancillary units - I thought the extra was worth paying for a complete Defender injun, and jar box + zorst.

Got your links, thanks.

Is that right I have to replace the clutch slave?

Do I have to replace the Master too?

Morning!!
Aren't the engine mounts in the wrong place to swap an N/A for a 300?

You'll need to move them to be able to bolt the engine down.

All of the clutch components can stay as it, but you'd be well advised to change the clutch plate and arm whilst the engine is out.

Steve Parker, who do the downpipe for the 200tdi disco conversion also do a complete set of pipes for this installation so that you dont end up with a rats nest of bodged together pipes cos the existing ones wont reach.

Their website is pants and they dont reply to emails but they are very helpful on the phone if they are in a good mood.

You'll also need to get a longer PAS pipe as i dont think thats included either, you would need to know if your pump has imp/metric fittings first.

Thanks for all the advice and help.

I've ditched the idea of fitting a 300, and got myself a nice 200 instead...

Fingers crossed it will be in, in a week or two.:D
