being new here and to my freelander, wanting to know how good they are off road?, have taken mine on the beach and found it great in sand dunes. how do they go in mud? anyone have some good pictures?.
Cheers Dylan

I hear rumours that they perform very well in any off road condition. One of the recent threads commented that the Hippo managed to get places the Disco couldn't.
There's one way to find out for your self. Take her out in the mud.

I will when its back from the mechanics, (**** I'm starting to sound like everyone else) having new ABS modulator fitted

Sounds pricy

Let us know how she performs and get photos if possible.

I've been VERY impressed, even with my limited experiences. It's the vehicle's traction (especially if you have Traction Control) that seems to work so well, even with average tyres. The only problems I encounter are with ground clearance. And not just overall height - it's the rear part of the exhaust and the catalytic converter that give me the most amount of worrying knocks from beneath when driving through ruts!

freelander is brilliant off road, you wouldn't think so to look at it though, without HDC and TC it'll be useless so if you have a very early model then don't bother as these dont have ABS (which controls TC and HDC), its only downside is ground clearance, i took a V6 off road and smashed the back box to bits!!

Got mine stuck first time out:mad:then turned it inta a tobogan:eek: but then it was my very very first time orft rodeoin:rolleyes:
Haven't challenged mine too much since but am gettin braver:D
Had a two inch lift kit fitted (Bearmach £200) and £70 to have the wheel alignment done (recomend);) . Gives much more confidence and I'm now looking for more challenging places to see what the ol gal can do:D :D
