Ey up all! wonder if any of yers knows the Lake district well enuff ?. I'm going beginning October, taking the mountain bike wiv me to do a bit of trail riding, but would be great to give Landy a day out offroading for fun. Will be staying near Lake Windermere.

Any suggestions? (where to offroad only!!):D

The LDNP have a list of RoWs on their website. Very handy. Just need a set of those nice 1:25k maps and you are away. Some lovely lanes around. If you want a guide, there is a commercial company in the Lakes that will guide you in your own motor or you can use theirs.

Here are the lists:

... and you won't be far from the Langdale valley, my favourite part of the Lake District. The Brambles cafe in Chapel Style does a lovely flapjack and the Stickle Barn (Dungeon Ghyll) does a lovely pint and cuppa. Can't beat a pint of Theakstons at the Old Dungeon Ghyll Hotel (ODG) for nostalgia.

Lots of bargins in Ambleside for outdoorsy stuff. Lot's of useful ideas for Land Rovering can be had in the outdoors shops. Great food in The Apple Pie, more civilised atmosphere in Lucy's and finally Zefforelli's is a good venue for an evening meal.

Cheers

Thanks a lot Blippie, I'll be sure to give your recommendations a try. Can't turn down a recommendation of a good pint and a cuppa mate.
