Hello All
For reasons unfathomable to my wife, and actually to myself as well, I've decided to join an off-roading session with a local club in Feb. I'll take the front skirt off, but otherwise she will go as is. I am reasonably certain that I will break something or get stuck, but a mate will come along in his motor so if it gets really bad I can always tow it somewhere out of sight and torch it. Only joking there of course, I'll call the AA actually.
Is anyone here generous enough to offer some tips? I will be reading alot in the next 2 weeks, but as it's my first serious off-road (done some fields and a couple of muddy tracks) I'm going to be taking it easy. While I want to have some fun and maybe crap myself a bit, my overall philosophy will be "if it looks like I might roll it, I won't bother".
There's quite a few impressive videos on U-T showing stock P38s coping with some quite tricky terrain. I have fitted a HD spring kit with a 2" lift, and running General Tyre AT Grabber 2s, so I think I should be okay.
Regarding winches, there is a real scarcity of P38 winches, so I think I will order a decent quality manual winch to throw in the boot. Can anyone advise on an electric winch that I'm missed, or recommend a good rachet and lash?
Thanks in advance
Jock
