does anyone run a v8 diesel in thier landy ?
I am thinking of putting a 6.2 lump in my hybrid and wondered if anyone had tried before (am sure they will have) and what experiences they had.

Rob.

I had a GMC Jimmy 4x4 a few years back with the 6.2D and it could pull a house down, I always thought it performed a lot better than the bhp and torque numbers that they kick out would have you believe . Mine had straight through pipes on and sounded amazing.

Cheers Raz, its the gmc lump that i am looking at putting in, straight through pipes would be the way to go.

i was thinking of doing this to put in my rangie bobtail could not find one at the time and found a  2.8td so put that in instead  good luck with it

I know of one local to me, in a 90.

The problem that he has is it EATS gearboxes.

I have no idea if he has tried a new one, or spoken to ashcrofts about a suitable one but I do know it is always in the garage and is currently there now and has been since before christmas.

I also knew of a guy that had one in his Rangy, it ran through an auto box and gave no probs with that, however he said the fuel consumption was horrendous! No idea what it actually was or how he drove it?

im sure as sure that there was a feature on a 110 hi cap pickup in this or last months total off road magazine

whatever it was it was DEFINITELY a v8 diesel yank, and it was in a mag i recently read.

im pretty sure i still have it actually, can send it you for cost of post, or just the pages if you wana keep the weight/cost down

cheers

Thats what i am running at the minute, always fancied a v8 diesel though.

So it sounds like they eat gearboxes due to the huge torque going through them, i could be persuaded to put an auto box in if needed, sounds like they will be the best bet.

Mr Noisy, i would be interested in having a read about it, if you can find it, cheers.

As for fuel consumption, well it will only ever be a toy so no huge mileage to worry about.

There's a guy at Harbour Hill, Aldermaston pay & play day who's got a 6.2 diesel in his RR Classic, running through an auto box. Only problems he mentioned were breathing, so he's fitted twin snorkels which have helped no end, now it runs really well:
