Hi, I definately am a newby here. Currently own a 90 300tdi '94 and have had it about 4 months.

I'm really looking forward to trying a bit of Green Laning but wanted to prep my landy before hand as it's my only form of transport.

Question is what are the basics I should do before taking it out ie diff guards etc

Also I've tried searching for a thread coving wheels and tyres but how big should I try and go when I need to replace mine (which could be fairly soon)?

Thanks for your time hopefully I'll be on the lanes before I know it....

Andy

yer wanna put where yer based in yer profile where it says location; then yer might find some folk local that might be willing to take yer along and show yer what to and what not to do

Wow, that's a bit of an upgrade, what happened to the petrol one?! Sounds like a neat motor, like Daft says post where you are and there'll be some lioke mindeds along with loadsa info! There is a mass on info on here about tyre sizes, there was a fred a coupla weeks ago about what to take when off roading and generally a wealth of useful info (and a wealth of useless too!)

Welcome to LZ (sorry, 6 months late with that one!)

Your 90 is more than capable of going green laning exactly as it came from the factory. A lot of "offroad" kit is for fashion victims and serves very little useful purpose. Get yourself a decent set of all terrain tyres if yours need replacing and off you go.

who you calling Daft?

People drove series 1's out of the factory to Singapore in the 1950's.... I think a 90 will easily do any green lanes without any mods.

I run my 110 as it came out of the factory until the tyres died. Now it has a set of Runway Enduro AT's and it hasn't become stuck on any green lane yet. If it ever does, then I shouldn't have been using that green lane in the first place, excepting mechanical failure.
