I suspect you have a blown power transistor in the BECM that drives that indicator.
If it is and you not want to replace the BECM,you can work around it by using a relay and connecting the relay coil to working indicator on that side.

we plugged it in to the diagnostics at the garage, but no message came up. if this helps.
how much is a becm, where is it located, does it just unplug, and the new one plugs in and its ready?

New BeCM = Pounds and lots of them
It's located under the drivers seat. It does just unplug and plug in but has to be programmed to your vehicle. Much cheaper option is to contact Irishrover or Rick The pick on here as they can repair and reprogramme for a fraction of the price of a new one. There are others too but can't remember them to be honest. try doing a search.

GREAT! i'll see what the garage come back with.surely if the becm had a fault it would have shown on the diagnostics?

I dont think there is a fault for the indicators as it is fairly obvious what is wrong. However if they have a decent system they should have been able to control the indicators via the BECM and see if the control was working or not.

i've contacted irishrover & rick the pick.
i will see what the garage come back with.i will post the solution on here when its sorted
thanks

just spoke to callrova.its definately the becm. its the inner workings get corroded.and it chucked it down all day yesterday.so i'm going to whip it out, open it up and just take a look for water.dry it, see if that works. if not, send it to callrova. they have a 12hr turn around. about £150 to fix. if knackered a recon becm £400. a new one £1100 OUCH!

well, got my becm back,(£215 to have it shipped and repaired?)
plugged it in and guess what.its still bloody flashing!
i've checked all the bulbs, holders and the wires, took the steering column apart.can't see any problem there.
now it might be the fuse box.
this is by far the worst car i've ever owned.
i'm one step away from selling/ebaying the over engineered, unreliable, rusting piece of s**t.
nice when it works though (for approximately 6wks at a time)
got my mate who is an auto electrician coming round tomorrow to have a look.he use to work for range rover.
we'll see what he says

oohh thats ****tr , only on a p38 could the indicators be so expensive and impossible to fix.

Take the fuse out , sell it and buy a classic!

out of the frying pan.....

i think its got to go.
at the end of my tether with it!
but what do we get? anything else apart from a range rover, and what will the neighbours think? got to keep up appearances.

its my girlfriends car, and she's pleading with me to keep it.but she doesn't get the headache and financial battering that comes with maintaining it.

yes, the £215 for the becm to be shipped and to have it diagnosed and repaired????
bunged my mate a few qiud.
in the end it was a £30 indicator stalk.
but most of all , its the inconvenience of my mrs not having a car for 10 days. it is the family car, as my daily driver is a slammed 1962 vw splitscreen panelvan.
she was begging me not to get rid of it as she loves it.
she says its like having a boyfriend she loves, that beats her up.(the p38 that is,not me!)
so, we have decided to keep it, as long as she doesn't mind the grief that comes with it.
also my mate, will be my first port of call from now on,if i can't fix it.which is very handy.
i've spent £700 on it this month!
can i just say that the indicators in my 48yr old vw work just fine, and it's far more reliable than the p38.
