Guys

Is there a temporary fix to coolant loss through the heater o-rings by disconnecting the two pipes in the engine bay and putting a new pipe on, connecting the inlet/outlet pipes together in the engine bay, to create a direct link between the two.
Basically, my o-rings are leaking causing mild coolant loss, want to get it sorted, but have a few more miles to do before I have any time in which to do so. And it's not like I need additional heat in the cabin as we head into summer.
I would guess that this would work fine and that the only effect is no hot water into the matrix itself. Does this then potentially cause any other problems?

Thanks

Yes the is no problem joing the two pipes together to bypass the leaking o rings, just make sure you mark the pipes "top and bottom" so you remember where they go and make sure you dont have a air lock before useing the vehicle again

Thanks for the response, from memory (car not near me right now) the pipes are side by side, not 1 top one bottom? its a 99/v reg if that makes any difference?
Anyway, i'll mark the pipes and try this quick fix/workaround.
I'd hope I can avoid an air lock carrying out this work, any tips though?

Also anyone know the diameter of pipe, so I can get to the motor factors and grab some.

I think the pipe is around 1/2" diameter.
You may get the Book symbol up on the HEVAC as the temperature sender which is clipped to one of the pipes will be reading cold. The fault could very well clear itself when you do the "O" rings and pipe it back up as normal.

does it matter which way round they go?

I am not sure if it makes any difference but i know you can get the pipe the wrong way round where they go into the heater box and you dont find this out untill you start putting it together so best make them anyway
