not starting properly

New to this, i have a freelander 1999 2.0 xedi, had it for 3 years now, love it to bits, but have a couple of problems,1. first time ever the central locking would not operate and open the doors i had to resort to the key and had to keep the key in the ignition and on to stop the alarm going off whilst waiting for green flag, he managed to start it by using his booster and he said it was the battery and alternator, i have had these checked and the battery is remaining charged and the alternator is charging it okay, i had it on a snapon machine to diagnose the fault and it showed battery but the voltage is okay 2. the second fault is when driving and accelerating i get 'hicking' and the car holds back, i have had two of the glow plugs changed (the other two are inaccessible), and i have changed the fuel pump but it is still 'hicking', any advice or help would be greatly received

If the diagnostic machine says the battery is naff, I'd change it. Especially if it's over 4 years old, the last bit of cold weather could have finished it off. They don't last forever.

If the remote has stopped working, stand near the car and press either button quickly upto 10 times, this will re-syncronise it. If this doesn't work, try new batteries then push the buttons again. Else it's LR dealer time for a new one and to have it programmed to the car.

Running fault can be loads of things, I'd suspect the injectors from what you describe. You'd need to have them tested.

Yes go along wiff Alan on BATTERY and reset. . . .but the hiccups,check yer fuel filter + air filter and bleed your low pressure side ,have to follow hienz manwell destruction and use yer squeezie thing. . . . .

Just a note to the above, i ran the car 200 miles to lockerbie and back with no hicks, but today ran it for 20 miles and hicced most of the journey? i have changed the fuel filter and used the squeezy on the pipe next to it a couple of weeks ago, i have added injector cleaner to the fuel, i have had it in at a specialist garage and had a compression test and it's clear, the injectors although a little worn are okay as well, the seals were changed but it still hicks, they changed two of the four glow plugs as the other two are stuck, i am completely lost with this, i will check the air filter tomorrow, any other ideas?

Just thought i would upadate you on this problem, after having spent nearly £500 at different garages, checking fuel injectors, checking compression, diagnostic machines, engine flushing, diesel flushing, fuel filters, oil changed, filters galore, ete etc trying to find the fault causing the freelander to 'hick' at different times, not constant, sometimes going for 200 miles then next day 'hick' all the time locally, i decided to have a look, bear in mind i am not a mechanic and i had my brother looking in the engine compartment whilst i revved the engine, he accidentally touched a bunch of cables near the front of the engine, it cut the engine out????? we did this a few times and realised that the cables actually connected to the fuel injector pump and when they were bent in different positions the engine 'hicked' and at its extreme cut out the engine, so with a £3 strip of connector block and some tape i bypassed the cables at both ends and cut out the bad bits, and touch wood it has not happened again. How much longer would it have taken a garage to find this fault, not even landrover itself to find the fault. Hope this helps other people....
