Well guys and gals,

HI! from nottingham, and no i aint got one just yet. BUT we(me and the missis) are wondering wot to get??

We are lucky enough to be working a season in the french alps this winter, so snowboarding is top of the list lol, but we were talking about what car to get and we started looking and landys!

I'm quite interested in LPG landys as i've had a couple of lpg vehicles in the past and loved the low cost of the things, and since all landys have(to me) huge engines i thought this could keep costs down aswell as being an awsome vehicle to use in the guarenteed-snowy seasonal conditions.

So... the question is, What model/years/any advice at all should we be looking for? we dont want to spent more than £2k on one really, but my lady seems to like the old vogues(she wants the slone ranger look in resort lol) and personally, i aint got a scooby doo what to even look out for!

The only think i've been able to find out is the whole ally/steel body shell thingie with disco's, but thats about it really?

So the decision is in your hands peeps!, what should we get??

we do appreciate any timed and advice you guys and gals spend on this so thanks in advance,

Kt and Earl ;o)

buy a discovery, just research rust on here.
V8's are fun but major nightmare if the liners slip

Don't buy a Freelander petrol-total nightmare
If you must buy a td4 freelander be aware of diff (IRD)and viscous coupling (VCU) issues

Don't buy a p38 range rover-unless you have deep pockets
Defender 200tdi or 300tdi -watch out for rust or tarted up crap.
Research your vehicle on here before buying.

If you want to go anywhere buy a Defender-I have 2 v8 defenders as toys

What fanatic said ...

For a 2k budget it'd be Disco all the way, you'd get a very reasonable 300Tdi or possibly an early TD5 for that. As you're new to Landies I'd say spend about £1500 on the vehicle, and use the remaining £500 to get a full service including all gearbox/diff etc oils changed. If you can, get some decent AT tyres on it or winter/snow specific tyres .. they make a huge difference .. though as it's a ski resort snow chains might be cheaper.

Sorry to disagree with Fanatic but maybe Im just lucky with my P38?
We would all love a Defender but have a look at what £2k gets you on a Disco and then see how little you would get on a Defender. Because its the one most go for its also the one that goes for the most!
I wouldnt personally touch a P38 @ £2k but you may be lucky, maybe look for a R/R Classic.
Good luck with the search
