and surely in theory the bigger the tyres the better on fuel it shud be.if u have a small tyre nd 100 revoluitions ul go alot less distance than if u do 100 revolutions on a big tyre.each revolution ul go further

No adam,

The bigger the tyres, the worse the fuel consumption.
Standard was 265 65 17, now is 265 70 17.
I can't get any better than 31 mpg, used to be 34 'ish but now, no matter how "Miss Daisy" I drive 31 is my best.

Gra.

Mine stills pulls well with 235/85,it just doesn't like the top gears a slow speeds like it used to. I could drive round at 30 in 5th no worries on 235/70. Now its alway 3rd or 4th on a straight. Just got to keep the momentum up now or I've got to work the gear box to gain speed again.

so even on 33s its not great.ive only got 265s on at the minit but there way to small.my discos been bobtailed so its lost quite a bit of weight and the fuel pump nd stuff been tweeked so it pulls realy well at the minit.i think id rather have 33s nd it pull well than 35s

Its not that bad, I have done two long trips on the motorway and sit happily at 60-65 with descent MPG. I normally travel at 55MPH only because i have a few nicks in the tires from off roading and paranoid about blowouts lol. Sits happily at 2100RPM at 55MPH

i have, when the tires were new had it over a ton. On std rims with a tweaked pump and bang on timing hit a little more!!

33" IMO are big enough. Any bigger and you get hassle with catching, full lock, half shafts and diff issues. But like I said before - horses for courses

I think 33 inch is quite adequate for clearance. My 33 inch Feds run 5mph slower on the speedo but with GPS in the cab I can keep within the speed traps.

33" is for girls:p

As you have a tyre fetish, can you answer a question. I have a set of 17" rims that I want to put taller, around 33" MTs on. Been trying to work what ratio but cant work it out , was thinking 285 70 17 but then can't find MUDs that size. I know 33" makes me a girl, but I,ll have to live with that.

as awp says a 17" mud tyre is gonna be hard to source and be very exspensive,i would sell them and put the money towards another set
