Not as much power as I expected...

Black smoke and twice the normal fuel consumption point towards a fuelling issue. If one of the injectors is leaking, chances are the others aren't far behind, so a fresh set of injectors may be the cure.

So i've sorted the leak on the injectors and haven't noticed a difference, airfilter has been done a couple weeks back along with all other filters etc. Beginning to think that it was me just expecting a little too much. Although I think then I get a bit of time, I'll look into the boost diaphragm and minor adjustments to the fuel pump timing.
Cheers again for all the help

Take the injectors in to a fuel injection place for testing.;)

They are supposed to be checked every 40k, and most will need a rebuild at that mileage. People don't bother, and performance suffers. :)

My 1989 110 does 30-35 mpg on a long run and around the 30 mpg mark arouind and about.
She will cruise all day at 70mph with a top speed of around 90.
She runs straight and true and you can let go of the steering at 70 without her running off track.
The tappets are set at 10 thou inlet and 12 thou exhaust, and I set the injector pump timing myself.
I also carry about 1/4 ton of gear in the back most of the time!
It can be done if you set up your 19J as it should be, and not as some of the highly paid experts say it should be done!
Whatever you do, don't take it to a stealer!

Can you come and tune mine!? I like the sound of those figures![emoji3]

Everything has already been posted on here, as I went through it all step by step some time ago ;);)

Can you remember the name of the thread where you posted it?
Decided I really need to check and adjust fuel pump as the wing mirror went floppy today and line of vision pointed directly at the exhaust. every time I touched the accelerator it seemed to give a whiff of blackness so want to see if adjusting the timing affects that.
Also feel it would be wise for me to check tappets.

Try injector service before messing around with fuel pump timing, but a puff of black smoke under acceleration is pretty common on old diesels, not something to get alarmed about.

You should definitely set the tappets. :)

I honestly can't remember, but I have a feling that it was in the 2.5 N/A doozil engines bit.
