not able to access ecu

Hi all
phoned the garage today to find out if they have looked at my 4.6 rangie, they have had it for nearly 3 weeks now, not yet plugged in the landrover test computer but we will be looking at it this afternoon.

I phone back this evening and he said he had had a look, but could not get any power out of the test socket to run a test, i borrowed a diagnosic machine before i took it to them, but it was a generic OBD2 test, it worked but the codes were not numbers that were reconised for Landrovers.

On another post i have just read i think i need to check fuse 33, does this fuse do anything else so that i can double check.

I phoned the local landrover garage but they won't open to bonnet because it is fitted with lpg :doh: somthing about health and safety, what a bunch of t**ts.

ok, reading your profile its a 99 P38, is that correct??

F33 is a 5amp fuse which provides power to the OBDII socket like you have found out.

What ECU's are trying to be accessed??

Its not uncommon for there to be corrosion on the pins of the socket OR the pins can get damaged and spread out over time which gives a poor contact. Start with checking the diagnostic plug and go from there.

Yes it's a 99 4.6 with the fold over induction pipes (not the oblong box one).

The reason for accessing the ecu's is that i have a fault that i can't start it, it turns over but there is no spark from any plug, i have changed the csp sensor and it started, tried 1hr later won't start again.

There are no faults showing on the display (except airbag, been on since i have owned) everything works as it did before, except it won't fire up.
