3 fekin hours...

Only trying to change the handbrake cable....


2 and alf hours of that trying to get them stupid little dished washer that hold the little spring on the pin!!!!!!!

Still aint done it, gave up before i put a match the whole pile of crap....


Who came up with that idea, trying to hold shoe, end of the little pin behind drum, then pick up two very small items with one hand, try line em up, then with ya foot ya gotta pick up something that will push em on....

what idiot thought that idea up?????????

what am i doin wrong, how the fek ya supposed to get em together!!!!!!

long nose mole grips, push and turn the dish thing while yer finger on the other hand pushes on't back o the pin.

tried that...

tried pliers,

12" long pliers,

mole grips,

tried a small socket but couldnt see the barsteward slot,

i cant believe that was the best design they could come up with...

feeling calmer now im on the outside of 4 cans of carling..

pliers allways works for me ,you need to align slot in pliers so you know where it is when you cant see slot

will have another go tomorrow...

full day at work then on my back for the third day doin this gearbox swop...

just had cables and props n mounts to put back on, thought i would be done today, m this handbrake scuppered me..

oh well, more tomorrow...

wouldn't be the first time I've used a cut down 2" 4BA bolt and a couple of nuts after loosing the original pin

this week gets worse!!!

driving van to work this mornin... on m-way..

polythene sheet blew under van... wrapped round prop n brake pipes....

and ripped the brake lines off..

holy crap no brakes..

so managed to pull off mway, stopped at garage at end of slip road, they made me some new pipes n loaned me some spanners.. put new lines on at side of road, but i couldnt get em to bleed properly..

so its now in our usual garage, and when the rear pipes ripped off, it tugged all the lines and bent the ones at the abs unit n flattened the pipes enough to restrict the flow to the rears..

so left boss to pay for it at let them get on with it...

so if ya see bits of polythene sheeting blowing about on the mway, avoid running over it...

now to start on my hand brake... or maybe a night off cos no van so no work tomorrow...

took me 5 minuted to get the handbrake back together..

after all that struggle, went together dead easy..

lol...

just gotta put all centre console back...

done for today, gotta go work now....

we don't get rid of defenders lol and discos come and go just put a new recon box and tran box on as-well and a x-brake and refurbished prop and rear crank seal and new master cylinder and the rest lol :hippie: thats in the fender not the disco
