is there anyone in this fair land who can tell me how to get my disco running its just hadnew injectors heater plugs timing belt all set right by a mechanic , all electrics checked the lot will not run for love nor money

OK, so we know that it's an its a Lreg 200 series 2.5tdi, thanks for the PM.

Firstly and most obviously, do you get any fuel out of the injection pump when you crank it over?

If yes, then you've probably got either valve or pump timing out by 180 degrees. Pump turns at half engine speed and it would seem that it may have lost its timing.

The other thing is valve timing. If it won't at least fire with easy-start (not a good thing to use) then you may have valve timing out, or both valve and pump timing wrong.

If there's no diesel squirting out of the pump, then go back and check on the fuel supply, but I'm thinking timing rather than fuel in your case.

If the valve and pump timing are one tooth out on the belt, that will be enough to make it run like a dog, two teeth and you're into non-starting territory.

If the timing was right originally, but the belt not tensioned correctly, it can slip if the engine bounces back against compression. I had that happen on one of our vans with a 2.8 turbo, it just stalled as I was moving it one evening and wouldn't restart. Had been fine up until then, but found it 3 teeth out on the timing and the belt wasn't tight. Dealer workshop!

Put a new spare belt on and did the job myself, started first turn of the key.
