I have just swapped an EDC 300TDI and Auto box from a 1997 R plate into 1998 S plate Disco 1. The donor vehicle was a manual but had the spider immobiliser on the injection pump, but the EDC pump just has the single wire to the fuel solenoid.

The problem I have is that I can't get the engine to start, it turns over fine and the EDC is getting power as the Check Engine light comes on the dash. I know I have diesel as far as the fuel fitter in the engine bay as I have cracked the outlet banjo bolt and I can see diesel coming out if I crank the engine.

I haven't been able to check there is 12volts to the fuel solenoid as I didn't have my multi meter with me today. I ave used the fuel engine loom and ECU from the donor vehicle.

Any suggestions of what to check next welcomed, or any other parts I need to swap over from the donor vehicle which I still have and is complete bar the engine and gearbox.

Thanks,
Jamie.

It does have the wire on the 4th injector, but I have used the full engine loom with all the relays and ECU from the donor vehicle so in theory that should be ok. I haven't used the rest of the logo inside the car or immobiliser box from the donor vehicle.

I am thinking either the shut solenoid either isn't getting 12V or the fuel system hasn't bled properly. I will check the solenoid when i am next at the car on Friday

Thanks for the reply, yes I did think of doing that yesterday but didn't have my jump leads or any suitable wire at the barn where the car is. Will go equipped next time I am down there.

Managed to get this running today, checked the fuel solenoid and had 12v with the ignition on cracked the injector pipes but didn't get any fuel out under cranking.

So swapped the alarm ECU for the one from the donner vehicle and hey presto engine sprang into life.

So with the EDC controlled engine, even though the fuel solenoid may be energised unless the ECU gets the mobilisation signal with the right key in it from the Alarm the engine won't run.

Just need to program so more remotes to the new alarm now as only have one very tired remote with it currently.
