'93 Disco Tdi manual

Started up fine this morning, popped in to the supermarket, and now has no starter. Dash lights look normal, clicks, but not a whisper from the starter, and I'm stuck in the car park without so much as a manual, like a complete pillock.

Windows didn't work on my way here, but OK now?

Get someone to give you a push.
 
It did make a bit of noise starting up earlier. Normally starts the instant you touch the key, no drama whatsoever.
 
Thanks for the moral support, fella.
I'll line it up for a run up when I stop it, and get a new starter asap. Can just about push it myself with some good boots on, and tracking is good, so fingers crossed.
 
Check start earth or run cable from battery earth to engine.
Not likely to be spider?
Give starter motor a good whack sometimes works.
Check starter bolts are tight.
 
Sorry I wasn't clear about that, got a tow start off the RAC man. Cost 130 quid, but he'll come out and do it again for the rest of the year.
