Had a look at paddocks listings,theres a 300tdi disco non cat downpipe for £60 ish plus vat,then the various defender 300 downpipes seem to be a third of that.....what do I need to get?:confused:

Hopefully the scrap price I get for the old cat will pay for the new pipe...fingers crossed

Hiya shocksi, it's for you to decide but the differences are:

1. Disco £60 non cat pipe has a flexy bit in it, this is supposed to reduce nvh and it will be easier to install as a result of the flexy;

2. The Defender one is a perfect straight swop, no mods required, straight pipe, no flexy, so I found it slightly more difficult to fit but it's a third the price. £21.25+vat !!

Both options WILL improve the perf. of your vehicle, just remember to put in a new air filter at the same time to get max benefit.

Also, have you De-EGR'd ??

The two mods really go hand in hand.

Cheers

looking to do the EGR at the same time...any advice?Seen/heard lots over the years but always interested in someone who talks sense!

Also looking at the K&N induction kit for the manual 300,worth it or not?

Re the K&N route, I haven't bothered. I change my air filters regulalrly because they can be bought sooooh cheaply so why wouldn't you?

The EGR valve thing is different, the benefits are subtle but they are there.

The most obvious benefit I found was the she would climb hills better afterwards.

The allen screws going into the exhaust manifold can be a bit of a bugler to undo, so Plus-gas or WD them a few times before attempting removal. I couldn't shift mine so I blanked-off after the valve and then removed the the plumbing. It worked for me.

Cheers & good luck

Dave
