1997 110 CSW, the OSR wheel bearing is rumbling, jacked it up and there is a fair bit of play.

What's involved here, can it be 'nipped up' or is it a replacement job? Is it easy DIY with basic skills/tools?

Thanks in advance

Definitely beyond my skills, how much would one expect to pay a garage for this then?
Now I'd doubt its beyond your skills, you do need a few tools though, 52mm box spanner and a press both handy for this job. I done mine on the front axel last week with a hammer and chisel and a home made press using a bottle jack. I'm sure its got to be £50 at least in a garage. Labour only.

Farm boy im no mechanic (But like doing me own jobs) And i did my wheel bearing meself! (When i did me swivel seals)

20 quid will get ya a set of bearings (One side) Follow busters thread and youl honestly be fine! Theres nowt to trip ya up, just take your time, when youve done it for yourself you'l feel great!

I felt the same before i attempted mine, now its nowt whipping the hub off now i know!

Good luck and go for it ;)

As above. check/replace the other 3 as its likely that they have all de-greased the same.

Each corner will take 2-3 hours, you can work out a garage cost on this using your local labour costs but around here it would be £500 for all 4.

I wouldn't advise driving it. I had a front bearing collapse on the M5 and it was like a blow out. the bearing got so hot the outer race welded itself to the stub axle (another £50).

last note: only but Timken bearings these are OME.

its a straight forward job that I have done in a field.
