Noisy rear axle

HI - I get a lot of road noise from my rear axle (Salisbury) on my 1996 110 Defender. Even if freewheeling, there is a lot of low grumbling - any ideas? Have recently changed the axle oil.

have you checked the wheell bearings?

are you running road tyres or mud ?

tyres are Grabber TR. Wheel bearings have been checked recently...

Propshaft UJ's can sometimes rumble like wheel bearings

were the bearings just checked for tightness? because all the grease could have washed out and thats where the rumble comes from.
